Earn Professional Development Hours

  • 1.5 hours
    After viewing the Eclipse Training Video, send an email to Prof Patricia Reiff reiff@rice.edu and include four things you learned from the video to receive a certificate for 1.5 hours.
  • 4 hours
    Download and complete the Eclipse Math homework AND observe and report on the 2017 Solar Eclipse. Email both to Prof Patricia Reiff reiff@rice.edu to receive a certificate for 4 hours.
  • 6 hours
    In addition to the requirements of the 4 hours above, ALSO take a photograph of totality and send to the eclipse "Megamovie" project. You must first sign up at their website (http://eclipsemegamovie.org) and receive their instructions - they even have an iPhone app! Participate in the coolest citizen science ever!
  • 45 credit hours
    Take our "Teaching Earth and Space Science Course (ASTR 502)".\xA0\xA0Can audit for PD hours or take for full 3 hours academic credit. Contact Dr. Reiff for details.\xA0\xA0Meets Monday evenings 6-9 pm; can be done remotely via Zoom.
