Earn Professional Development Hours - Rice University

• 1.5 hours
  After viewing the Eclipse Training Video below, send an email to Prof Patricia Reiff reiff@rice.edu and include four things you learned from the video to receive a certificate for 1.5 hours.
  OR
  attend one of our in-person teacher trainings at Rice, CAST or NSTA. (note - the powerpoint below HAS been updated for 2023/2024)
• 4 hours
  After viewing the Eclipse Training Video below, take the "Kahoot" quizzes and email reiff your screen name for your quiz. Download and complete the Eclipse Math homework. Email the homework and your eclipse quiz results to Prof Patricia Reiff reiff@rice.edu to receive a certificate for 4 hours.
• 45 credit hours
  Take our "Teaching Earth and Space Science Course (ASTR 502)".(Next offered fall 2023).Teachers can audit for PD hours or take for full 3 hours academic credit. Contact Dr. Reiff for details. Meets Monday evenings 6-9 pm; can be done remotely via Zoom.

  In honor of the April 8 “Great American Eclipse,” Rice faculty share science behind solar eclipses and how to safely view a total solar eclipse.
